  • Public urged to collect unclaimed Ghana Cards

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has disclosed that more than 600,000 printed Ghana Cards, dating back to 2018, are still uncollected at its regional and district offices.

In a statement released on February 18, 2025, the NIA revealed that it has received 700,000 blank cards to address a backlog of unprinted cards from 2023. These newly acquired cards will be used for printing pending records, including first-time issuances, card replacements, and updates to personal information.

To accelerate the process, Acting Executive Secretary, Wisdom Kwaku Deku, has established a technical team tasked with fast-tracking the printing and ensuring that the cards are distributed to district offices for issuance.

The NIA is urging the public to come forward and collect their unclaimed Ghana Cards, which have remained uncollected for years.

In addition, the authority assured that it is working on a more efficient system for distributing the unclaimed cards, although specific details of the plan have yet to be disclosed.
