President John Mahama has formally apologized to the Christian Council of Ghana and the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference for their omission from the National Education Forum, which took place in Ho on Tuesday.
During his address at the forum’s launch, Mahama expressed regret for the oversight and emphasized that the event was designed to be inclusive. He also reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to engaging religious organizations in national discussions.
“Let me express my sincerest apologies on behalf of the planning committee of the forum to our stakeholders from the faith-based organizations for the unpardonable omission in your delayed invitation,” Mahama said.
The apology followed a joint statement of disappointment from the religious groups after they were not initially included in the important education dialogue. Mahama assured the religious bodies that the mistake had been promptly corrected, but he still deemed it necessary to offer a formal apology.
“Since you are the purveyors of God’s mercy on Earth, I’m sure you have forgiven us,” Mahama continued. “We know you’re important stakeholders because you own many schools, and this educational forum is vital for bringing everyone together.”
