The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has strongly dismissed circulating rumors on social media claiming that the government has announced an increase in cocoa prices.

In a statement, COCOBOD described the reports as completely false and urged the public to disregard the misinformation. The Board emphasized that accurate updates on cocoa pricing would only come through official communication channels.

A flyer, which has been widely shared on social media, alleged that the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, had announced that cocoa farmers would receive 70% of the world market price. COCOBOD, however, rejected these claims, calling them misleading.

“Our attention has been drawn to a false flyer circulating on social media claiming that the Minister for Food and Agriculture has announced an increase in cocoa prices. This information is completely untrue,” COCOBOD stated in a post on its official social media page.

The Board also cautioned the public and stakeholders against spreading false information, urging them to verify news through credible sources.

COCOBOD reassured the public that any future adjustments to cocoa prices would be communicated officially through the proper channels to avoid confusion and prevent the spread of rumors.
