  • NPP assures OSP Ofori-Atta will cooperate after medical treatment

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly condemned the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) recent declaration of former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, as a fugitive, calling the move “unreasonable.”

The declaration was made on Wednesday by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, who accused Ofori-Atta of failing to respond to potential corruption charges. However, the NPP has rejected the OSP’s declaration, alleging that such “sensational statements” were designed to stir unnecessary public emotions and create drama.

During a press conference on Thursday, NPP National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B) vehemently disputed the OSP’s decision. “Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta can never be a fugitive. He is not a fugitive, and he will never be a fugitive. The OSP got it wrong,” Nana B said.

He further emphasized that since assuming office in 2017, Ofori-Atta has consistently addressed any legal matters that arose and will continue to do so in the current case.

Nana B suggested that the issue could have been handled more appropriately through official communication channels. He reassured the public that Mr. Ofori-Atta would return to assist with the investigation once he has completed his medical treatment in the United States.
