Tottenham Hotspur’s manager Ange Postecoglou’s cavalier approach was put to the test as his team suffered a 6-3 defeat at the hands of Liverpool. The loss marked the second consecutive home league defeat for Spurs, who have now conceded 10 goals in their last two games.
Postecoglou’s team has been plagued by defensive vulnerabilities, which were exposed by Liverpool’s world-class attacking quality. The Reds’ expected goals total was 4.6, compared to Spurs’ 1.2, highlighting the dominance of the visitors.
Liverpool’s manager Arne Slot praised his team’s performance, saying, “Being top of the league tells you we are a very good team… If you come here and play the game we did, then it shows you we are a very hard team to beat.”

Postecoglou acknowledged the gulf in class between the two teams, saying, “It was a painful one. Credit to Liverpool. They were too good for us… It was a bridge too far for us.”
The defeat leaves Spurs in 11th place, eight points off fourth, while Liverpool maintains its four-point lead over Chelsea at the top of the table.
