Parliament Appoints Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror as New Clerk

Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror has been appointed as the new Clerk to Parliament, effective January 1, 2025. He will succeed Mr. Cyril Kwabena Oteng Nsiah, who is set to retire on February 2, 2025, upon reaching the compulsory retirement age of sixty.

Djietror’s appointment was made by the Parliamentary Service Board in November during an extraordinary meeting, where the three deputy clerks were interviewed for the position. As part of his new role, Djietror will be responsible for overseeing the swearing-in of Members of Parliament (MPs) for the ninth Parliament on January 6, 2025.

The current Clerk, Mr. Oteng Nsiah, is scheduled to take his annual leave beginning December 31, 2024. His leave has already been approved ahead of his retirement.

Reports indicate that the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Sumana Bagbin, has issued the formal appointment letter for Djietror to assume his new role as Clerk to Parliament starting January 1, 2025.

Before his new appointment, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror served as the Deputy Clerk of Parliament in charge of Corporate and Financial Management Services. He has also held the position of acting Deputy Clerk for Legislative Management Services and has served as Principal Assistant Clerk. Additionally, Djietror has extensive experience as the Head of the Table Office and as a clerk to several parliamentary committees, including those on Constitutional, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs; Business; Judiciary; and Foreign Affairs.
