Parliament Passes Ghana Boundary Commission Bill, 2023

Parliament has successfully passed the Ghana Boundary Commission Bill, 2023, following its third reading on December 18, 2024.

The newly enacted law is designed to enhance Ghana’s capacity to address boundary demarcation and resolve disputes more effectively.

Major General Dr. Emmanuel Wekem Kotia, the Commissioner General of the Ghana Boundary Commission, expressed his optimism about the bill’s passage, stating that it will empower the Commission to manage boundary-related issues with greater authority.

Dr. Kotia further emphasized that the law aligns the Commission’s mandate with international best practices, strengthening its ability to handle boundary matters efficiently. The new law also allows the Commission to implement social interventions aimed at alleviating challenges faced by residents in underserved border communities.

“The passage of this bill strengthens our mandate, and I believe Ghana will be the ultimate winner as we work toward resolving boundary-related issues,” Dr. Kotia remarked.
