The Paramount Chief of the Goaso Traditional Area, Nana Kwasi Bosomprah, has passed away, according to a statement made by Otumfuo Kyeame Antwi Boasiako on Monday, December 16.
The announcement came during a meeting of the Asanteman Council, which had gathered to deliberate on several matters, including the Tanoso Stool Affairs. Nana Kwasi Bosomprah had been serving as a member of the committee formed to investigate the dispute related to the Tanoso Stool.
His death has created a significant vacancy, prompting the need for a swift appointment to fill the position. Otumfuo Kyeame Antwi Boasiako, who also serves as the linguist on the committee, appealed to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to select a new member to continue the work of the committee.
“Some time ago, Otumfuo sanctioned a committee to look into the Tanoso dispute. It had the Goasomanhene as a member but he has passed on creating a void. We have already officially informed Otumfuo about this. We will need a replacement to be able to carry on with the task,” Otumfuo Kyeame Antwi Boasiako said.
In response, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II appointed Nana Oppong Frenya, the Adankragyahene, as the replacement member for the committee.
The exact cause and date of Nana Kwasi Bosomprah’s passing have not yet been disclosed. He was 58 years old.
Nana Kwasi Bosomprah had ascended to the throne in 2008 following the abdication of Nana Agyei Ampofo in the wake of a chieftaincy dispute in the Ahafo Region.
