David Ocloo has resigned from his position as assistant coach of Asante Kotoko, ending a three-year tenure with the club. His resignation came just ahead of the highly anticipated Super Clash against Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the Ghana Premier League last weekend.
Ocloo first joined Kotoko during the 2021/22 season, where he worked alongside head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum and fellow assistant coach John Eduafo. The trio guided the team to a Ghana Premier League title, after which they took a break ahead of the 2022/23 season.
During the break, Ocloo briefly worked with Hearts of Oak as an assistant coach and also served as the club’s interim head coach. He later returned to Asante Kotoko for the 2023/24 season in his previous role as assistant coach.
The reason behind Ocloo’s sudden resignation remains unclear.
Asante Kotoko will now continue their campaign without Ocloo as they prepare to face Dreams FC in their next league fixture.
