“I Would Have Left Ghana if NPP Won The Election” – Blakk Rasta

Ghanaian musician and broadcaster, Blakk Rasta, revealed in a recent interview on Joy FM that he had been planning to leave the country ahead of the 2024 elections, citing dissatisfaction with the current administration.

Speaking to Kwame Dadzie on Showbiz A-Z, Blakk Rasta explained that while he awaited the election outcome, he was exploring better living alternatives abroad. He emphasized that had the New Patriotic Party (NPP) retained power, he would have left Ghana for good.

“We’re just looking for change, and change is here. I was so fed up. I told everybody that should these guys win the election again, I would be out of this country,” Blakk Rasta said.

The musician explained that he had already made plans for his exit a month before the election. “I was out of the country. I was in Jamaica, I was in America and some other places just planning a very fluid exit should they win,” he revealed.

Drawing a comparison to Nigerian author Wole Soyinka, who vowed to destroy his American passport if Donald Trump won the U.S. presidential election, Blakk Rasta said he would have stayed true to his word by relocating from Ghana.

Blakk Rasta further expressed his frustration with the government’s policies, arguing that the NPP had placed Ghana in difficult economic conditions. “The NPP has plunged the country into very austere situations, and Ghana needs a break from the government,” he stated.
