The outgoing Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East Constituency, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has organized a thanksgiving service to mark her exit from Parliament after losing her seat in the 2024 Parliamentary elections.
In the election, Naa Koryoo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) secured 50,886 votes, defeating the three-time MP who garnered 46,638 votes.
On Sunday, Koomson took to social media to express her gratitude for the support she received throughout her tenure. “I joined my church family to give thanks and praise to God. It was a powerful reminder that our strength and hope come from Him alone,” she wrote. “To my supporters, I thank you for your tireless efforts. Your hard work and commitment did not go unnoticed. Let’s continue to trust in God’s plan for our lives. May we come back stronger, wider, and more united than ever before,” she added.
Earlier, in a post dedicated to her constituents and party supporters, Koomson reflected on her time as a lawmaker, stating that her service was driven by a singular purpose—serving her people.
“This temporary setback will not deter me from pursuing what I firmly believe to be my calling—serving you, the people of Awutu Senya East,” she remarked.
She also addressed her party members, acknowledging the disappointment caused by the election results. “To my party faithfuls, I understand the pain and disappointment this outcome has brought. But let us not forget that the NPP is a resilient and enduring force. Our ability to overcome challenges and rise again has never been in doubt. Stay strong, for brighter days are ahead,” Koomson assured.
