Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is mourning the tragic death of one of its students, Afia Dedaa Osae-Atuah, who passed away in a road accident.
Afia, a third-year Geography student, was killed while attempting to repair her laptop when the incident occurred. According to reports, she was standing on the shoulder of the road when a ‘trotro’ minibus, whose brakes had failed, veered off its lane and struck her.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed through an official announcement on the university’s social media platform, sending shockwaves through the KNUST community.
Members of the university have expressed their deep sorrow and extended their condolences to Afia’s grieving family. The incident has left the student body in shock, with many urging authorities to take stronger action to address reckless driving and enhance safety measures around the campus.
This tragic event adds to a series of road accidents that have claimed the lives of more than 10 students this year alone, with at least three fatalities attributed to car accidents in different locations.
