Kwesi Appiah, Head of Sporting Affairs at Asante Kotoko, has confirmed his return to the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Executive Council following the completion of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. Appiah had temporarily stepped down from his position to comply with a Confederation of African Football (CAF) directive aimed at avoiding potential conflicts of interest ahead of the qualifiers between Sudan and Ghana.

Appiah’s decision to step down was a precautionary measure, as he explained in an interview with Asempa FM: “I temporarily left my role due to the games until November. I have been restored to the ExCO but since then, there has been no meeting at the moment.” With his extensive experience in the sport, Appiah is expected to make significant contributions to the advancement of football in Ghana.

As a seasoned coach, Appiah is set to lead the Falcons of Jediane to the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco next year. His return to the GFA Executive Council is anticipated to bring his wealth of experience back to the table, enabling him to contribute to key decisions and strategies for Ghanaian football.
