The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the release of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results has been delayed due to an outstanding debt of GH₵118 million owed by the Ministry of Education.
In a statement, WAEC clarified that the results will only be made available once all post-examination challenges are resolved. Despite completing the marking of essay and practical components by November 29, 2024, the scanning of objective test cards has been delayed due to a breakdown of scanners.
“The Council is awaiting the release of additional funds out of the outstanding balance of GH₵118,000,000.00 from the Ministry of Education to enable the scanning process and other post-examination processes to continue smoothly,” the statement explained.
WAEC also urged students, parents, and other stakeholders to disregard unofficial dates for the results circulating on social media. The Council further appealed to its examination officials and suppliers, who have yet to be paid for their services, to remain patient as payment will be processed once the necessary funds are made available by the Ministry of Education.
“Payment for their services will be made as soon as the needed funds are released from the Ministry of Education,” WAEC assured.
