A state-of-the-art Astroturf pitch in Odumasi, Asante Akyem Central constituency, is nearing completion, marking a significant milestone in the region’s sporting landscape. The facility, which is expected to promote sporting activities and nurture local talents, is part of a promise made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the community.
In a recent video that went viral, Municipal Chief Executive Officer (MCE) Robert Yaw Kwakye was seen working alongside contractors, putting the finishing touches on the pitch. The Astroturf is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, creating new opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
Asante Akyem Central, which comprises 22 communities, has a rich sporting history, having produced prominent athletes such as Sulley Muntari, Rabiu Mohammed, Vida Anim, and John Amponsah, among others. The new Astroturf pitch is set to build on this legacy, providing a world-class facility for local athletes to train and compete.
The project is one of several Astroturf pitches being constructed across the country, with similar facilities already completed in locations such as Atonsu and New Suame in the Ashanti region.
