Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has reaffirmed his team’s commitment to winning the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title. With 19 points from 12 matches, the Phobians currently occupy the 6th position on the league table.
As the team prepares to face off against arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in a highly anticipated Matchday 13 fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium, Ouattara emphasized the competitiveness of the league. “The teams that are competing to win the Ghana Premier League are many,” he noted in an interview with Original FM. “Bibiani GoldStars, Nations FC, Medeama, Heart of Lions, Hearts of Oak, and Asante Kotoko are all fighting for the title.”
When questioned about Hearts of Oak’s primary objective, Ouattara employed a rhetorical analogy to drive home his point. “If you enrol in secondary school, what is your goal?” he asked, prompting the interviewer to respond with “To pass.” Ouattara continued, “If you say it is not your target to win the league, why are you playing? We are competing for the title, and if it comes to pass, it will not be a surprise; if it doesn’t happen, too, it will not be a surprise.”
In preparation for the upcoming Super Clash, Hearts of Oak engaged in a friendly match against lower-division side Uncle T United on Wednesday, emerging victorious with a convincing 4-1 scoreline.
