Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II Re-elected President of National House of Chiefs

Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, the Paramount Chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, has been re-elected as President of the National House of Chiefs. The election, held on Friday, November 22, 2024, saw Ogyeahoho securing 42 out of the 72 votes, defeating the Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II.

This victory marks Ogyeahoho’s second term as president of the House.

In the race for Vice President of the National House of Chiefs, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II triumphed over his three competitors, garnering 54 votes.

The newly elected leaders were promptly sworn in and assumed their roles, continuing their oversight responsibilities.

In his address, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II expressed his gratitude to the members of the House for their trust and support. He reaffirmed his commitment to preserving Ghana’s cultural heritage, calling for unity within the House and stressing the importance of working together to ensure peace during the upcoming general elections.

Ogyeahoho also outlined plans to digitize the operations of the National House of Chiefs, aiming to improve efficiency and effectiveness. He further expressed his dedication to resolving all outstanding legal disputes within the institution.
