The Member of Parliament for Atiwa East, Abena Osei Asare, has taken a significant step in recognizing the dedication and commitment of teachers in her constituency. The maiden MP’s Teacher’s Award and 3rd Retirees’ Send-off ceremony was held to celebrate the selfless devotion of teachers, who play a critical role in shaping the future of Ghana’s children.
The event, themed “Teacher Dedication and Professionalism: A Key Character Trait in Educating the 21st-Century Child,” brought together traditional leaders, officials of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), and the Ghana Education Service (GES). Abena Osei Asare, who also serves as the Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, rewarded 41 teachers for their outstanding contributions to education.
The awardees received prizes such as NASCO chest freezers, air conditioners, NASCO FHD TVs, motorcycles, cash prizes of GHS 5,000 each, and plaques in recognition of their exceptional commitment to education. The District Director of Education for Atiwa East, Pearl Leonel Acquah, commended the MP for this outstanding initiative, highlighting the importance of appreciating teachers for their service.
Abena Osei Asare reiterated the significance of teachers in education and nation-building, assuring that the government remains committed to improving teachers’ conditions. The recipients of the Atiwa East MP’s Teacher Prize and Retirees’ Send-off expressed gratitude for the MP’s humanitarian gesture, recognizing their contributions to education in the constituency.
The overall best teacher, Fauzia Nuhu, and other awardees from various communities pledged to continue working hard. The occasion was graced by the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua, as well as traditional leaders from Asamang Tamfoe, Anyinam, and other areas.
