Court Sentences Barber to 20 Years for Robbery

A 26-year-old barber, Richard Amoako, also known as Jordan, has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment with hard labour for conspiracy and robbery.

Amoako and his accomplice, 30-year-old mason Paa Kwasi (now deceased), robbed a gold buying office at Wassa Nkonya in the Wassa Amenfi East municipality.

According to Police Chief Superintendent Alex Odonkor, Prosecuting, Amoako and Paa Kwasi traveled from Kumasi to Wassa Mampong on a robbery expedition.

On October 16, 2024, they attacked 22-year-old Osman Adams, an employee of “Same God” gold buying office, slashing his neck with a cutlass.

The victim was rescued and hospitalized, while Amoako and Paa Kwasi were severely beaten by town folks before being rescued by police.

Paa Kwasi died en route to the hospital, and Amoako confessed to the crime during questioning.

The court ordered Amoako’s family to pay GHS10,000 to the victim’s boss, Richard Quansah.

Presiding Judge Mrs. Hathia Ama Manu sentenced Amoako to 20 years imprisonment on each count, to run concurrently.
