A tragic accident occurred at Zongo Junction on the Achimota-Tesano road when a police vehicle collided with a motor rider, resulting in the rider’s death.
According to reports from Accra-based UTV, the incident happened as the police car was traveling on the Accra-bound lane. The driver reportedly failed to notice the rider amid heavy traffic on both sides of the road.
Witnesses claim that the vehicle, identified by the registration number GP-413, was speeding as it raced to an event at the Police Training School when it struck the rider, who remains unidentified.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but the rider was pronounced dead on impact.
In the aftermath of the accident, traffic patrol officers swiftly impounded the police vehicle and took it to the Tesano Police Station, where the driver was subsequently detained.
The body of the deceased, along with the damaged motorcycle, has been transferred to the police morgue for further investigation.
