“He is still Unfit for Interrogation” – UGMC Doctors on Erald Amoako’s Condition

Erald Salifu Amoako, the son of prominent figure Salifu Amoako, has been discharged from the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC) after receiving treatment for severe injuries sustained in a traumatic accident. Although he was discharged on October 28, 2024, medical professionals have indicated that he is not yet fit for police interrogation.

According to a medical report from Dr. Fred Salawu, an orthopedic and trauma specialist at UGMC, Erald was admitted on October 12, 2024, suffering from an open right ankle dislocation and facial lacerations resulting from the accident. He was initially referred from Legon Hospital and required immediate, extensive care from both plastic and orthopedic surgeons due to the severity of his injuries.

Dr. Salawu’s report states that Erald experienced a brief loss of consciousness upon arrival. Surgical interventions included debridement, right ankle external fixation, and flap coverage performed on October 14. The surgery revealed an open right ankle joint dislocation, classified as Gastillo III B, along with ligament tears. On October 21, he underwent split-skin grafting to address a post-traumatic ulcer and is currently mobilizing on a non-weight-bearing basis on his right leg.

While Erald’s condition has improved enough for outpatient recovery, Dr. Salawu stressed that he remains unfit for police questioning. UGMC has pledged to keep the relevant authorities informed about his ongoing recovery.
