Residents of Adamso in the Adansi Akrofoum District of the Ashanti Region are calling on the government to address urgent needs for essential amenities in their community.
In an interview with Adom News correspondent Isaac K. Normanyo, local opinion leader John K. Ampong highlighted the necessity of establishing a reliable communication network and providing adequate school furniture.
Ampong noted that the lack of a communication network has created significant challenges in retaining teachers in Adamso. He explained that the absence of connectivity deters educators from staying in the area, which hampers educational progress. “Establishing a network would not only improve teacher retention but also enhance communication for residents,” he stated.
In addition to connectivity issues, the community is grappling with a severe shortage of school furniture. Parents are currently forced to buy chairs and tables for their children, which they must carry to school each day. Ampong described this arrangement as “unhealthy and unsustainable.”
The Odikro of Adamso, Nana Appiah Kubi, supported Ampong’s appeals and called on non-governmental organizations, the central government, and the public to assist in providing furniture for the local school. He emphasized the need for other critical resources, including computers, to improve learning conditions.
Nana Kubi also raised concerns regarding the headmaster’s bungalow, which was destroyed in a recent fire. He urged for urgent rehabilitation or rebuilding to ensure suitable accommodation for school staff.
