Authorities have initiated an investigation following a shooting incident that occurred amidst political campaign activities in the Agona West Constituency. The incident took place on the evening of Sunday, October 27, resulting in injuries to four individuals.
According to a police statement, two of the injured have since received treatment and been discharged, while the remaining two are still hospitalized.
The shooting reportedly erupted when supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate Chris Arthur and incumbent MP Cynthia Morrison, who is contesting as an independent candidate, crossed paths while campaigning in the same vicinity.
As tensions escalated, a confrontation ensued, during which shots were fired, reportedly targeting Cynthia Morrison. Among the injured, Haruna Rashid, the Agona West NPP Constituency Nasara Coordinator, was also struck by gunfire during the altercation.
The police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident to ensure accountability and maintain peace in the area.
