A chilling incident has unfolded in the Bia West District of the Western North Region, where a man, Josontey Kwame, approximately 40 years old, allegedly murdered his teenage stepdaughter, Mary Josontey, on his farm at Sehwi Kankakrom near Yamatwa.
According to Isaac Oduro, a local resident, the mother of the deceased had sent Mary to deliver food to her father, Kwame Dagati, at the farm. However, when Mary failed to return home after several hours, her mother grew concerned.
Kwame Dagati initially told Mary’s mother that he had assigned her some tasks on the farm, but this explanation sparked suspicion. One of Mary’s siblings decided to investigate and headed to the farm, where they discovered Mary’s lifeless body, covered with leaves.
“The sibling saw blood and found Mary’s body at a corner of the farm,” Isaac Oduro confirmed to Adom News’ Augustine Boah.
Following the gruesome discovery, Kwame Dagati allegedly attempted to take his own life by consuming a poisonous chemical but was thwarted and handed over to the Yamatwa Police.
The Police have taken custody of the body, which has been sent to the Essam Government Hospital mortuary for autopsy. Kwame Dagati is currently receiving treatment at Essam Hospital.
