“My Son Did Not Carry a Gun to Kill Anybody” – Bishop Salifu Amoako

Bishop Salifu Amoako, a well-known religious figure and father of the 16-year-old boy implicated in a tragic accident that resulted in the deaths of two young girls in East Legon, has urged the public to refrain from further discussions about the incident. The accident occurred on Saturday, October 12, 2024, and has drawn significant attention and concern from the community.

Speaking to his congregation at Alive Chapel International on Sunday, October 20, Bishop Amoako defended his son, insisting that the incident was a tragic accident rather than an act of malice. “It was an accident. My son did not carry a gun to kill anybody. He involved himself in a terrible accident, and I am not the one who did it, nor his mother. It is my name, that is why people are talking,” he stated.

The bishop expressed his frustration with the public’s reaction, highlighting that accidents, while heartbreaking, are not crimes. He called on Ghanaians to show empathy and not to sensationalize the tragedy. “The ongoing public outcry is only adding to the pain my family is enduring,” he noted.

Bishop Amoako further emphasized the importance of allowing the legal process to unfold without premature judgments. He expressed concern that his social status has intensified the scrutiny surrounding the incident. “If this was an Okada [motorcycle] accident, who would mention it? It is just because it is my name, so keep quiet and let’s see what the Lord will do,” he remarked.
