- Man found dead in truck at Nyankyerenease, Ashanti Region
- Deceased, James Appiah, 40s, was sleeping in parked truck
- Eyewitness had earlier confronted Appiah over poor parking
A man believed to be in his early 40s was discovered dead inside a truck in Nyankyerenease, located in the Kwadaso constituency of the Ashanti Region, on Sunday, October 20, 2024. The deceased has been identified as James Appiah, also known as Atta.
According to eyewitness Maame Ampofowaa, Appiah was last seen sleeping in his parked truck on the main street of Nyankyerenease, with the windows closed. She noted that the truck was poorly parked, obstructing the road, and despite her repeated attempts to get him to move it, he did not respond.
Ampofowaa recounted her interactions with him, stating, “I had a back-and-forth confrontation with him around 11 in the morning because of how poorly he had parked. At 1 pm, he still hadn’t moved his car, and I needed to load some things for my clients. I noticed he was sitting and sleeping in the passenger seat, so I decided to leave him alone.”
She added that when she left her shop at 3 p.m., Appiah was still asleep in the truck. “Later, around 7 pm, I received a call informing me of his passing. The people who called me knew about the altercation I had with him earlier that day,” she said.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
