A tragic building collapse occurred on Sunday, October 20, at Sokoban Wood Village in Kumasi, resulting in one fatality and three individuals being rescued. The incident took place in the early morning hours, involving construction workers present at the site.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) received a distress call at 2:45 AM and promptly dispatched the Kejetia Fire crew to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered four workers trapped beneath the debris and immediately commenced a rescue operation.
While three of the trapped workers were successfully extricated alive, the team regrettably found one individual deceased at the site. The body of the victim has since been handed over to the Ghana Police Service for preservation and further investigation.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collapse to assess whether any safety protocols were neglected.

“The swift response from our team ensured three lives were saved. However, this tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the need for all construction projects to comply with safety protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future,” the GNFS remarked.
