Otto Addo Admits Defeat to Sudan Took a Toll

Ghana coach Otto Addo expressed that he felt “dead” following the team’s defeat to Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Black Stars faced a setback in their qualification campaign, losing 2-0 to the Falcons of Jedaine at the Benina Martyrs Stadium in Benghazi, Libya, on Tuesday.

This loss extended Ghana’s winless streak to four matches and left them third in Group F with just two points.

“To be honest, I felt dead the last two days after the Sudan match,” Addo said in an interview with GFA media. “But now, I’ve received a lot of positive feedback and support from family and friends, which I truly needed.”

He emphasized the importance of moving forward: “This support has helped me get back on track, and it’s crucial for us to focus on winning our remaining games.”

The Black Stars are set to face Angola and Niger in their last two qualifying matches, requiring maximum points to maintain their slim chances of qualifying for next year’s continental tournament.

Angola has already secured their spot with 12 points, while Sudan, currently in second place, only needs a draw from their remaining two matches to qualify.
