Akufo-Addo Launches National Service Authority Officially

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has officially launched the National Service Authority (NSA), a move aimed at strengthening its mandate to implement policies and programs effectively.
This initiative follows the passage of the National Service Authority Bill 2024 in July, designed to mobilize service personnel to areas of national significance.
As a legally recognized authority, the NSA will now have the capacity to enter into contractual agreements, addressing challenges the institution faced prior to its establishment.
During the launch on Friday, October 18, President Akufo-Addo praised the institution’s contributions to national development, highlighting that it saves the country 3 billion Ghana cedis annually.
He emphasized that this transformation will equip the youth with valuable skills for the nation’s development. “It also saves the country about GHC3 billion annually in wage costs. This transformation into the National Service Authority enables it to take on a broader role in nation-building,” he stated.
“This will ensure that the Authority not only mobilizes and deploys service personnel but also equips them with employable skills, setting them up for greater success in their post-service lives.”
The President expressed confidence that the next administration, led by Vice President Insha and NPP Presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will build upon this foundation to ensure the authority remains a driving force in the development of Ghana’s youth.
