Cornerstone International Academy in East Legon has announced a temporary closure following the tragic loss of two students in a fatal accident on October 12, 2024.
The incident involved a collision between a Honda Acura and a Jaguar driven by the 16-year-old son of Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako. The crash caused the Honda to strike a wooden electric pole, leading to a fire that ultimately resulted in the deaths of two young girls.
In the wake of this tragedy, the school released a heartfelt statement expressing its profound sorrow and confirming a pause in academic activities. “As we mourn the loss of our beloved students, our thoughts and prayers remain with the affected families. In this difficult time, we have decided to close school early for the mid-term break, effective tomorrow, October 15, 2024,” the statement read.
The closure will last until October 21, 2024, allowing students and staff the necessary time to grieve and support one another, as well as the affected families.
The community is reeling from the shock of the accident, with many coming forward to offer condolences and prayers for the victims.
