Nigerian singer Darkoo has playfully addressed fan comments suggesting she should reconsider her sexuality, responding with humor and confidence.

The conversation began on October 9, 2034, when an X user named Najilal quoted a lyric from one of Darkoo’s songs, pointing out what they saw as a tautology. Najilal wrote, “Lemme put my kids in you??? Darkoo please, not today.” This sparked a flurry of reactions about the lyric and Darkoo’s sexuality, creating a light-hearted banter on the platform.

Amid the exchanges, another user attempted to persuade Darkoo, saying, “My girl collect better preek leave les sh! t.” In a witty retort, Darkoo replied, “Bring your babe, let’s see who fit knack pass,” which elicited laughter from her followers.

Darkoo, who is openly lesbian, has consistently expressed her identity through her music. In a previous interview with Layo on The Appointment Show in September 2024, she shared her experience of coming out to her Nigerian parents. While acknowledging that her parents may not fully accept her sexuality, she emphasized their love and support.

“This is what makes me happy and I feel whole,” she stated. “I don’t feel like I’m faking it or doing what I don’t want to do. This is me at the end of the day. I’m very spiritual and I feel like I have a good relationship with God, my heart is clean and pure and I’m loving.”

Darkoo went on to share that her parents are accepting of her relationships, saying, “I bring girls home and my parents don’t mind. I have parents who love me for me. At the end of the day, I know they don’t think what I’m doing is right because they’re African. But they love me, and that’s what it is.”
