- Allegations of misconduct in GH¢2m transaction.
- Conflicts of interest, financial mismanagement alleged.
- BoG acts under Banking Act, 2016.
The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has directed Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II to step down as Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) Board Chairman.
This decision follows serious misconduct allegations involving a GH¢2 million transaction.
The BoG’s October 10 letter to Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II stated his continued leadership has become untenable.
The letter cited Section 103 (2)(d) of the Banks and Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions Act, 2016 (ACT 930).
Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, also the Kwahumanhene, was instructed to immediately resign.
He must hand over his duties as a director of ADB.
Allegations against Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II surfaced after a whistleblower petition.
Collins Darkwah Aboagye’s petition accused the Board Chair of misconduct.
The GH¢2 million transaction allegedly involved conflicts of interest or financial mismanagement.
The BoG’s action aims to maintain the integrity and stability of Ghana’s banking sector.
