“NDC Must Play Cards Well or Owusu Bempah Issue Will Backfire” – Vim Lady

Renowned radio host Afia Pokua, popularly known as Vim Lady, has shared her insights regarding former President John Dramani Mahama’s recent outreach efforts towards the clergy as Ghana approaches its December 7 elections.

Mahama has notably focused on engaging the Christian community, seeking to bolster his support among religious voters. His interactions with prominent pastors, particularly a recent meeting with Pastor Owusu Bempah, have sparked considerable debate, with some viewing this as a strategic move to solidify his backing from Christian constituents.

In a broadcast on Okay Fm, which was monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Vim Lady expressed her reservations about Mahama’s decision to include Bempah in his outreach strategy. She suggested that this choice could alienate other key allies within the religious sector.

“What Mahama is doing these 61 days left for the December 7 election is to win the Christians to himself, and he’s being very strategic,” she remarked, noting the critical role the Christian vote plays in the electoral process.

However, her analysis took a cautionary turn as she highlighted the potential fallout from Bempah’s involvement. “If you are a die-hard NDC supporter like Nigel Gaisie and Badu Kobi, you’ll be peeved,” she cautioned, emphasizing the loyalty these pastors have shown towards the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in contrast to the shifting allegiances often seen in politics.

As tensions rise within the party, Vim Lady pointed out the delicate balance Mahama must maintain to keep his supporters unified. “NDC must play their cards very well with the Owusu Bempah issue, or else it might backfire,” she warned.
