Alvaro Morata has announced that he and his family must relocate due to safety concerns after the mayor disclosed that he purchased a home in their town.
The 31-year-old striker joined AC Milan from Atletico Madrid in July and reportedly chose Corbetta, a town 17 miles west of Milan, to maintain privacy for his family.
Morata expressed his anger when the mayor of Corbetta, Marco Ballarini, shared the news of his arrival on social media on Wednesday.
Alvaro Morata took to Instagram to express his outrage towards the mayor of Corbetta, Marco Ballarini, after the mayor’s announcement of Morata’s arrival in the town violated his family’s privacy. In his post, Morata stated, “Dear Mr. Mayor, thank you for violating my privacy. Fortunately, I do not own any valuable property. My only treasure is my children, whose safety you have endangered.”
He further lamented, “I thought the municipality of Corbetta could guarantee me a certain level of privacy, but instead, I find myself having to move house immediately due to your inability to use social media and protect your citizens.”
In response, Ballarini acknowledged his support for Inter Milan, AC Milan’s rivals, while also welcoming Morata to Corbetta, calling it a “big family.” On Thursday, he shared an image of the Inter Milan club badge on his Instagram story, captioned simply, “Ciao.”
Since joining AC Milan, Morata, who captained Spain to victory in Euro 2024, has scored two goals in six appearances for the club.
