“Jean Mensa is a Threat to Ghana’s Peace” – Rex Omar

Story Highlights
  • Rex Omar labels Jean Mensa a "threat" to Ghana's peace
  • Calls for Electoral Commission forensic audit
  • Warns of "time bomb" if audit is ignored

Rex Omar, a prominent member of AriseGhana, has expressed serious concerns about Jean Mensa, the Electoral Commissioner, stating that she now poses a significant danger to Ghana’s peace and security.

“We in AriseGhana joined the recent demonstration against the Electoral Commission because Jean Mensa has become a threat to the peace and security of this country,” he declared in an interview with Amansan Krakye on Property FM in Cape Coast.

The Highlife musician cautioned that Ghana could face serious problems if religious groups and civil society organizations do not pressure the Electoral Commissioner to conduct a forensic audit. “If the clergy, civil society organizations and the religious bodies don’t speak to compel Jean Mensa to do a forensic audit and we vote with this register, then we’re sitting on a time bomb,” he warned.

Omar emphasized that Jean Mensa should not have the power to determine who governs the country. “Let’s allow Ghanaians to vote without any issues so that whoever wins or loses will gladly accept the verdict,” he stated.

He further questioned the rationale behind Mensa’s resistance to a forensic audit of the voters’ register. “If she has nothing to hide, why is she refusing that there should be a forensic audit of the voters register so that the elections will be conducted peacefully?” he stressed.
