- He accuses politicians of paying influencers to sway public opinion
- Wale questions effectiveness of demonstrations, calls them "time wasters"
Dancehall musician Shatta Wale has taken to social media to express his thoughts on the galamsey (illegal mining) controversy in Ghana. He claims that politicians have politicized the issue, using influencers to sway public opinion ahead of the December 7 elections.
“Ibe so nooorr u guys come with fix the country and got @efiaodo arrested …Stop this Nonesense cause this country can only get better if we join hands as citizens and not politicize things …Think ooo think … Some ppl go collect coins to come and influence you ……SMH…..Influencers with no brains … cheap Job to finish your own brothers and sisters mcheewww!!” Shatta Wale wrote.
He criticized Ghanaians joining the anti-galamsey fight, saying it’s driven by politics. “Bro Galamsey was there before they born you shut for there … what is happening now is politics and if you don’t know anything about politics find something to do quickly and make money ….”
Shatta Wale shared his perspective on galamsey’s history, stating, “Galamsey was for family’s who inherited lands from our great grandfathers until the politician brought in foreigners to take it by force from them and sold it to these foreigners to make profits for for their own selfish gains …”
He also questioned the effectiveness of demonstrations in Ghana. “They will go and demonstrate on the street and go and dance and come back and say they have accomplished their mission .. You think you can use 3 months to solve Ghana problem mcheewwww…Time wasters.”
Shatta Wale concluded, “Masa u ppl shd go find something to do oo cuz these political parties you all are supporting know you ppl can’t shake them …All your tweets here won’t change anything unless you are ready fight them at Bukom Arena 😂😂😂 #COWARDTWEETS.”
