The music band Kwan Pa has expressed heartfelt gratitude to entertainment marketer Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu, known as KOKA, for his significant role in advancing their career.
In a recent interview with DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz, Kwan Pa’s guitarist, Ansah, reflected on the crucial support KOKA provided when the band was just starting out.
“When the band started, I was with Roverman Productions, and KOKA was also there. I spoke to him about my idea, and he gave me about 40 numbers of media personalities to connect with because he saw our talent and wanted to help us. What he felt he could do at the time was to link us to media people,” Ansah shared during the segment on Hitz FM.
The guitarist highlighted the importance of KOKA’s assistance, which led to their first media interview in 2017.
“As a result, our very first media interview came from one of the contacts KOKA provided us… Seven years later, here we are,” he added.
Kwan Pa also credited Dr. Sonudo, the leader of the University of Ghana’s Legon Palm Wine Band, as a major source of inspiration for their musical journey.
“Dr. Sonudo… started the Palm Wine Band, and when I was on campus, I used to skip lectures to watch him perform. They are the reason we started our own Palm Wine band,” Ansah stated.
The band’s lead singer further noted that Dr. Sonudo’s influence has shaped their musical style.
“He encouraged me to start learning modern, trendy songs and perform them, which also influenced our decision to create Christmas songs,” he said.
Currently, Kwan Pa is busy promoting their upcoming EP, Sweet Palmwine, which is set to be accompanied by a short film of the same name.
