Fast-rising Ghanaian musician Kweku Darlington has expressed his ardent desire to collaborate with music legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
In an exclusive interview with NY DJ on BTM Afrika, Darlington revealed that sharing the mic with Daddy Lumba would be the pinnacle of his career. “I would love to record with Daddy Lumba, the great man,” he enthused.
Darlington’s latest single, “W’aye Awie,” has been making waves, but he considers a collaboration with Daddy Lumba a long-held dream. “Have you ever heard any artist feature Daddy Lumba? It doesn’t happen. It’s got to be Daddy Lumba rather featuring another artist,” he noted.
Despite the challenges, Darlington remains hopeful, citing conversations with Daddy Lumba’s inner circle. “They tell me Daddy Lumba loves my music, but are unsure of a collaboration.”
If the dream collaboration materializes, Darlington hinted at potentially retiring from music. “At first, I dreamt of working with Okyeame Kwame, which happened. Daddy Lumba is next. I may even retire from music if it happens. Working with someone considered the GOAT will be an immense achievement, cementing my place among the best.”
Daddy Lumba, acclaimed as Ghana’s greatest musician, boasts an impressive discography, including hits like “Theresa,” “Aben W’aha,” “Ankwanoma,” “Mensei Da,” and “Sika Asem.”
