Thieves allegedly broke into a vehicle belonging to Wanderlust Ghana, a group of adventure enthusiasts from Ghana, while they were in Germany.
In 2023, Wanderlust Ghana completed a 10,000-kilometer journey from Accra, traversing several African countries before reaching London in the United Kingdom and other European nations. Supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the Ghana Tourism Authority, the group is on another ambitious expedition, covering over 30,000 kilometers to promote Ghana.
Currently, the team is on an epic 30-day journey from Accra to Dubai, passing through 30 countries. However, their trip encountered a setback on Friday, September 27, when one of the members, Kwame Peprah, revealed in a Facebook post that the team was robbed in Krefeld, Germany, on the 13th day of their journey to the Arab country.
Peprah reported that the thieves broke into one of their vehicles, a Tacoma, and stole various items, including a passport belonging to a team member. The incident was promptly reported to the local authorities.
“I was dressing up when Saka knocked on my door to inform me that the receptionist had called him. The Tacoma had been burgled. Someone smashed the front window and took lots of stuff, including my wallet and possibly Kwame’s passport,” Peprah wrote.
“We are not allowed to touch the car before the police have had their turn, so at the moment, I’m sitting in a German police station waiting to file a report and go through the processes,” he added.
Peprah noted that the theft could impact the trip for the team member whose passport and visa were stolen. “If Kwame’s passport was in the car, I’m sure we can get a new one issued at the embassy in Berlin, but the trip may be over for him because the other visas needed along the route will not be easy to reissue,” he explained.
