- Lana Del Rey weds Jeremy Dufrene, Louisiana alligator tour guide
- Intimate ceremony held in Des Allemands, near Dufrene's workplace
- Couple met in 2019 on swamp boat tour; Del Rey's first publicly known marriage
Pop star Lana Del Rey has reportedly married her alligator tour guide boyfriend, Jeremy Dufrene, ending weeks of speculation about their relationship.
The couple applied for a marriage license on Monday in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana, just south of New Orleans. The document, seen by the BBC, shows Del Rey used her legal name, Elizabeth Woolridge Grant. The application was valid for a month and was signed off by a court clerk.
US media reports indicate that Del Rey and Dufrene did not wait long to tie the knot, marrying on Thursday in Des Allemands, Louisiana, near where Dufrene works as a boat tour operator. According to People magazine, citing a source, “The wedding ceremony and reception were both held in the same bayou where Jeremy operates his swamp boat tours.”
Del Rey has not commented publicly on the wedding.
The couple met in 2019 when the singer posted photos from one of Dufrene’s tours and wrote on her Facebook page, “Jeremy lemme be captain at Arthur’s Air Boat Tours x.” They were recently seen together at the Reading and Leeds festivals, where Del Rey was a headliner, and in London.
The 39-year-old singer gained fame in 2011 with her self-titled debut album and its breakout single “Video Games.” She has since released nine albums, cultivating a glamorous and somewhat mysterious image. Her latest album, “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd,” received positive reviews and was nominated for an Album of the Year Grammy Award.
Dufrene’s bio on the Arthur’s Air Boat Tours website notes that he previously worked at a chemical plant but felt it was “not his calling.” After some encouragement from his family, he obtained his captain’s license and began running tours. “Jeremy’s a great airboat captain and loves interacting with wildlife and customers,” the bio reads.
