“I Battled Depression for Half a Year” – Sonnie Badu Talks About Life After Accident

Renowned gospel musician Sonnie Badu has revealed the harrowing details of a major accident at his residence in 2023, dispelling rumors that the incident was a publicity stunt for his show, Rhythms of Africa 2023.

In an emotional interview with actress Nana Ama McBrown on Onua Showtime, Badu shared his traumatic experience. “I fell on a staircase while tidying up my large home…my leg got trapped in a metal railing,” he recounted.

The devastating consequences of the accident included the amputation of two toes on his right foot. Medical professionals informed Badu that reattachment was not possible.

Badu’s road to recovery was fraught with challenges. He relied on crutches to attend church and required assistance for radio appearances due to mobility issues. The singer candidly admitted to struggling with depression for six months, grappling with the emotional and physical aftermath of the accident.

“I want to assure everyone that what happened was not a publicity stunt,” Badu emphasized, addressing speculation surrounding the incident. His vulnerability has sparked an outpouring of support from fans and well-wishers.
