UPDATE: ECG Appoints David Asamoah as New Acting MD

David Asamoah has taken the reins as the acting Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), following the resignation of Samuel Dubik Mahama on Wednesday, September 25. Asamoah’s appointment was announced by ECG’s Board Chairman, Alexander Afenyo Markin.

Asamoah brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as the Deputy Managing Director in charge of Commercial Services. His expertise in handling complex cases, including testifying in court against companies accused of illegal power connections, will undoubtedly serve him well in this position.

Prior to his appointment as Deputy Managing Director, Asamoah held the position of Sectional Manager of Revenue in charge of Technical Investigation. In this role, he demonstrated his ability to navigate intricate cases, showcasing his technical knowledge and expertise.

Asamoah’s experience working with ECG will be invaluable as he takes on this temporary role. His understanding of the company’s operations and challenges will enable him to make informed decisions and drive progress.

The Government of Ghana, as the sole shareholder of ECG, will make a final decision on Asamoah’s appointment. Until then, he will lead the company, addressing pressing issues and working towards achieving ECG’s goals.

Asamoah’s predecessor, Samuel Dubik Mahama, resigned after serving as Managing Director. Mahama’s background in law and business, with over 12 years of experience in executive roles, had equipped him to lead the company.

The ECG’s leadership structure includes a Managing Director, supported by General Managers and Sectional Managers. The company operates through various divisions, including Corporate Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Project Management Office, and Energy Trading.

Asamoah’s appointment is a significant development for ECG, and his experience and expertise will be crucial in navigating the company’s challenges. His temporary role will likely focus on maintaining stability and continuity.
