Popular Ghanaian actress Christiana Awuni has refuted allegations that she received payment from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to support their campaign. In a recent interview with Zionfelix, Awuni asserted that her backing for the NDC is based on principle rather than financial gain.

“People say I have taken money to campaign for the NDC, but that’s not true,” she stated emphatically. She further explained that if her motivation were purely monetary, she would have aligned herself with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), given their control over state resources.

“If I am greedy and want to enjoy politics money, I would rather opt for NPP because they are the ones handling the state’s money currently. But because I’m not greedy, I will not campaign for NPP like some of my colleagues,” she elaborated.

Awuni also outlined her reasons for supporting the NDC and its presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama. She cited Mahama’s commitments to restarting abandoned projects, reopening banks to assist traders, enhancing educational facilities, providing free first-year education for university students, and revitalizing the Free SHS initiative.

“We want Mahama to prioritize health, education, and employment. Akufo-Addo’s government is a mess,” she criticized, pointing to issues such as contaminated water and frequent electricity outages under the current administration.
