Christopher Nkunku scored a hat-trick as Chelsea comfortably defeated League Two side Barrow 5-0 in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
The French forward opened the scoring in the eighth minute before adding two more goals in the first half.
Chelsea’s dominance continued in the second half, with Pedro Neto scoring his first goal for the club and Nkunku completing his treble.
The victory means Chelsea have progressed to the fourth round of the competition, while Barrow’s impressive run in the tournament came to an end.
Despite making 11 changes to the team that beat West Ham on the weekend, Chelsea were far too strong for their lower-league opponents.
Barrow, who had defeated Championship side Derby County in the previous round, were unable to match Chelsea’s quality and intensity.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca was pleased with his team’s performance and praised Nkunku’s hat-trick. The Blues will now face Brighton in the Premier League this weekend.
