Adwoa Smart, the popular Ghanaian actress known for her role in the Akan drama series Obra, has opened up about a painful chapter in her past, revealing that relentless teasing and bullying led her to abandon her education.
In a recent interview, the actress, whose real name is Belinda Naa Ode Oku, shared how the constant mockery she faced from her peers negatively impacted her schooling. “I stopped going to school because my mates were laughing at me because of my size… It got so bad that I lost interest in going to school so I dropped out,” she explained.
Smart expressed her frustration with school officials, criticizing them for their lack of support during her ordeal. “The teachers didn’t help me at all. They were supposed to protect me, but they didn’t,” she said, her voice reflecting her deep disappointment.
When asked why she didn’t transfer to another school, the actress reflected, “It was beyond me… I was very young and couldn’t make decisions on my own… If it were to be now I would’ve continued.”
