Renowned Ghanaian gospel singer Empress Gifty has shared her harrowing experience of losing her sight for a month following a severe accident, describing it as the most challenging period of her life. In a heartfelt interview on Accra FM, she revealed how this ordeal tested her faith in unprecedented ways.
The accident left her unable to walk, and she found herself relying on a wheelchair for mobility. In her search for relief, her sister introduced her to a herbalist, but the situation escalated after her plane made an emergency landing, resulting in complete blindness.
“It started with blurred vision and by the time I returned home, everything had gone dark,” Empress Gifty recounted, noting that she was blind for about an entire month. During this time, she became fully dependent on others for her daily needs. “They were bathing me, taking care of me completely. It was tough,” she shared, adding that pastors visited her regularly to pray for her recovery.
Empress Gifty also revealed that she made a covenant with God during this difficult time. “I told God, if you give me back my legs and my eyes, I will give you all my praise and worship. That’s why today, I go extra hard for my work with God.”
She considers her recovery a miracle and remains steadfast in her commitment to her promise. “I invest heavily in my projects because I’ve seen the handwriting of God in my life. He had mercy on me and pulled me through,” she affirmed, expressing gratitude for her journey and renewed purpose.
