The Ghana Police Service has apprehended three individuals and is actively searching for additional suspects linked to violent clashes in Apam, Central Region, on September 16, 2024, which left one person injured.
Among those arrested are Alhaji Kassim Mohammed, the NDC chairman for Gomoa West, along with Stephen Cobbinah, known as Bonjour, and Joseph Mensah, also called Kofi Kokor.
They, along with other assailants wielding weapons, disrupted a commissioning ceremony for the District Roads Improvement Programme (DRIP).
The confrontation saw supporters from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) exchanging blows and throwing objects at each other, resulting in one NDC member sustaining injuries from a carjack.
Reports indicate that Mohammed Kassim drew a firearm during the chaos, leading to his swift arrest. He and the other two suspects are now in custody and will soon face legal proceedings.
Authorities are continuing their efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the unrest.
