Bernard Mornah, flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), has taken action against his disqualification from the 2024 elections. His lawyers have written to the Electoral Commission (EC) demanding answers.
Mornah insists the EC has no basis for disqualification since all errors on his forms were corrected. He received a call from Samuel Quoao, an EC representative, about anomalies in his forms.
Mornah had addressed the issues, and Quoao confirmed the forms were rectified. However, Mornah later learned of his disqualification through a friend.
The EC cleared 13 candidates and disqualified 11, including Mornah, citing non-conformity with legal requirements. Mornah’s lawyers, Atuguba and Associates, have written to the EC seeking clarification.
Mornah questions the EC’s decision, given their incomplete register. He feels disrespected and vows to fight the decision.
The PNC flagbearer had submitted his nomination forms on September 13 and corrected errors promptly. He was confident about his candidacy.
The EC’s announcement on September 20 caught Mornah off guard. He described the statement as “bogus” and disputed the grounds for his disqualification.
As the former General Secretary of the PNC, Mornah was elected flagbearer on September 8. He had filed his nomination and expressed confidence in the party’s chances.
Mornah’s disqualification has sparked controversy. His determination to contest the decision reflects his commitment to the electoral process.
The outcome of Mornah’s appeal remains uncertain. The EC’s response will significantly impact the PNC’s participation in the December polls.
