Former Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has signed for Greek club AEK Athens on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old’s contract with United expired this summer, ending a nine-year association with the club.
Martial is set to arrive in Greece tonight and is expected to earn £2.5 million per season.
This would make him one of the highest-paid players in AEK’s history, surpassing the current top earner, former Tottenham star Erik Lamela.
Martial will join a squad that includes several other former Premier League players, such as Roberto Pereyra, Nordin Amrabat, and Thomas Strakosha.
Once considered one of the most promising young talents in world football, Martial’s form has declined in recent seasons due to injuries and inconsistent performances.
He will now look to revive his career at AEK Athens.
