Guru: “My NPP Support Hasn’t Hurt My Career”

Guru NKZ has asserted that his public endorsement of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has not had any adverse effects on him.

As Ghana prepares for the elections on Saturday, December 7, 2024, Guru has unveiled a new track dedicated to Dr. Bawumia titled Fa Steer No Ma Me (Give Me the Steering Wheel).

In an interview on Monday, September 16, 2024, Guru stated, “If I claimed to be negatively affected, I would be dishonest. If that were the case, I would have openly admitted it.” He emphasized that his actions are driven by personal conviction.

Guru highlighted that his fans are perceptive and apolitical, appreciating him for his music and the relatable stories it tells.

He pointed out that his success predates his political engagements and that his supporters understand this distinction.

He also noted, “Supporting brands that align with your ideals is a natural part of progress. If I resonate with your ideology, I’m comfortable backing your party.”

The University of Ghana Students Representative Council (SRC) presidential candidate added that regardless of political affiliations, he is well-regarded by his peers and fans, attributing this to his perceived humility.

“People appreciate you based on how you interact with them,” Guru said, reiterating that his professional engagements are focused on his artistry rather than his political views.
